This Good Watch features Patrick Depailler in a Tyrrell 008 during the 1978 Montreal Grand Prix weekend. The Tyrrell 008 followed the famous P34 six-wheeled machine and signaled a return to conventional design practices for the team. In the cockpit of the 008, Patrick scored his first win and several podiums during the ’78 season. Featuring a Cosworth V8 and six speed Hewland transmission, the 008 was the predecessor to Tyrrell’s first ground effects car which arrived in 1979. Depailler proves his ability in this beautifully shot video from on-board the 008 during a heavily sodden practice session.

This video is a great find. I had completely forgotten about the six wheel P34 monstrosity. Love the sound of those Cosworths.

You’re right, the Cosworth sure does make a pretty noise.
