As I continue to grow my machine shop I decided to add bore and honing services. Back in my karting days, which were extensive, we often did our own engine work in house to shorten turn around times and lower expense. With high performance karting engines it wasn’t uncommon for us to do cylinder work and while having cranks built by a builder. Later on, I got into doing crank work myself too. Though crank work is not something I fancy to do, even for myself at this point.
Anyways, for all my motorcycles over the past 20 years I did my own boring, honing, and port work. The exception being our Suzuki GT750 powered race car. With that, we sent the cylinders for bore and Nikasil as we want to use that cylinder for a long time and desired the cooling benefits of Nikasil in the race application. The desire to bore and hone in shop has lead me to purchase more and more tooling over the years. In addition to my two lathes, manual mill, and CNC mill, I have a CycCyl Boremaster. This machine is common in many large shops that aren’t using Kwik-Way style machines and benches. The Boremaster is ideal for small engine boring and the machines are pretty desirable for this type of work.
Long story short, I have all the equipment to do bore and hones and as a result I have decided to offer these services as a part of my website here. I also offer blasting services to clean your cylinder to look as good or better than new.
Check out the cylinder bore and hone service for pricing and options! For a limited time I am offering a 10% discount using the #2025 code. Thanks for looking!
