Introducing DustLance™ – A Simple Approach to Silica Dust Control

Respirable crystalline silica is a common hazard anywhere concrete is chipped, broken, or demolished. Contractors are expected to take steps to control airborne dust, but many existing solutions can be expensive, cumbersome, or require specialized equipment.

DustLance™ was developed to provide a practical alternative.

Designed for jackhammers, chipping hammers, chipping guns, and other pneumatic demolition tools, DustLance™ delivers a fine, continuous mist directly to the point where the tool contacts the concrete. Applying water at the point of impact helps suppress dust before it becomes airborne while using only a minimal amount of water.

Rather than changing the way crews work, DustLance™ is intended to work with the tools they already own. Its compact design minimizes interference with normal operation while providing consistent mist coverage throughout the demolition process.

Supporting OSHA Table 1 Wet Methods

OSHA’s Respirable Crystalline Silica Standard (29 CFR 1926.1153) identifies the use of water to suppress dust as an engineering control for many concrete demolition activities. DustLance™ is designed to help contractors implement these wet methods as part of their overall silica exposure control program.

While no single product alone determines compliance, effective engineering controls are an important part of reducing airborne dust and creating a safer work environment.

Built From Field Experience

Like many of the products we develop, DustLance™ began with a simple question:
