This weekend, CL MotoTech is returning to the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, where I’ll once again be behind the wheel of my Suzuki GT750-powered D Sports Racer. The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix is one of the most unique motorsports events in North America, transforming the streets of Schenley Park into a temporary road course while raising money for autism and intellectual/developmental disability charities. It’s a weekend I look forward to every year—not only for the racing, but also for the opportunity to connect with fellow racers, engineers, motorcycle enthusiasts, and automotive enthusiasts from across the region.
In addition to racing, I’ll have a small CL MotoTech display in the paddock featuring Trammagic, examples of our CNC machining and engineering work, and several products developed right here in Pittsburgh. I’ll also have my 1974 Yamaha RD350 on display, a motorcycle that many readers have followed over the years through its café racer build series here on the website. Together, the GT750-powered race car and the RD350 represent two sides of CL MotoTech: designing and testing components under demanding racing conditions while preserving and improving classic motorcycles through precision machining and engineering.
If you’re attending the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, I invite you to stop by and say hello. I’d be happy to answer questions about the D Sports Racer, the GT750 engine, the RD350, CNC machining, engineering, motorcycle cylinder boring and precision honing, product development, or any of the other projects on display. While you’re there, be sure to take home one of our complimentary CNC-machined GT750 water pump gears as a keepsake from the event—I look forward to meeting you!
