Most of what I do at CL MotoTech stays local — cylinder bore and hone work for motorcycles, ATVs, and powersports equipment, shock rebuilds, custom machining, and suspension work for customers in Pittsburgh and the surrounding area. That’s the core of the business and it’s not going anywhere.

But not everything I design can be shipped cost-effectively, and plenty of the people who could use my work are nowhere near western Pennsylvania. So I’ve started offering something new: digital design packages you can download and make yourself.

There are two tiers. The standard download gives you the files and the right to produce the part for your own personal use — great if you have the machining capability at home or a local shop you trust. If you’re a small business looking to produce for resale, a separate manufacturing license is available with a per-unit fee structure. That option opens the door for shops anywhere in the world to build and sell quality parts based on my designs.

The first product is live in the shop now, engineered to the same standard as everything else that comes out of here — proper tolerances, material specs, documentation you can actually work from.
