Bilt Techno Mesh Motorcycle Jacket Review

Bilt Techno Mesh Jacket
Bilt Techno Mesh Jacket

I recently purchased a Bilt Techno Mesh jacket from local the Cycle Gear store. I have been searching for a new jacket for sometime. I wanted good protection at a reasonable price, and wasn’t looking for anything too flashy. The jacket I chose needed to function in a wide variety of weather, from the chilly Pennsylvania spring and fall to the hot and balmy summers. I will note ahead of time that I usually do not pay for big name brands as I feel you pay for the tag not the quality. Cycle Gear does carry many name brands and it is my impression that Bilt is their budget brand. It might be important to add that Bilt brand products do have a reputation for being hit or miss in terms of quality. I also get the feeling that other riders, those who are perhaps more fashion minded, would scoff at Bilt products, but I have purchased a few other Bilt products in the past and had very good luck with them. So when I started shopping for a jacket I started there.

Moreover, there is a Cycle Gear store near me and that means that I have the opportunity to go there and try gear on, which is a nice feature compared to strictly online retailers who do not have physical store fronts. It also makes returning gear easier should I encounter a problem with it. I will say that I am meticulous about saving receipts and will return expensive gear if I encounter manufacturer defects. Additionally, Cycle Gear hosts cycle nights which provides a fun and stress free way of meeting other riders and enthusiasts. Bike nights also provided an opportunity to speak with other riders as well as store representatives to talk over the Bilt Techno Mesh jacket before I purchased. Impressions where generally good and so I made the purchase.

After having ridden around in the Techno Mesh Jacket for a few weeks I am really enjoying it and decided to review the jacket on That review, which can be found below, is simple and to the point. The jacket thus far possesses all of the characteristics I wanted and has not deteriorated in any way since its purchase nearly two months ago. Overall, the jacket has met or exceeded my expectations. I also purchased Bilt Speed Racer leather boots and I will be reviewing those soon!

I Really Like It

I really like this jacket! It fits well, though a little bulky, it is what you would expect for a jacket with built in pads. The overall look is nice, not flashy, but well styled and clean. On hot days the jacket breaths well when you are moving, you get lots of good air flow. On cool mornings the liner can be used and it makes a big difference in the temperature of the jacket. I often leave the liner in my office and wear it there as my office is too cold when the AC is on. Overall I am very satisfied with the jacket. I like the assortment of pockets, I use them to keep my bikes registration and some tools as well as my glasses. There is also a dedicated internal cell phone pocket that closes securely with heavy velcro. Overall the quality seems very good. I have not crashed the jacket and do not plan to, but the heavy pads give me confidence that the jacket will protect if that situation should occur.
